Books books and more books!

I’ve previously posted of mine and Ellie’s love of books so I thought I’d share some of the books I’ve bought for Christmas.

My first purchases were made on The book people’s website.  I have bought from this company before through work, they have some fantastic deals and have a huge variety of books and gifts.

When I saw the collection ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt and Other Stories’ I just had to add it to my basket!  There are ten books in this collection including:

Guess How Much I Love You

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

A Quiet Night In

You and Me, Little Bear

Kiss Good Night Sam

Bears on Chairs

Olivers Wood

The Wild Woods

Farmer Duck

You’re All My Favourites

They are alllovely stories with beautiful illustrations.  I’m really looking forward to reading these with Ellie at bedtime.

The collection comes in a clear, plastic, seal-able folder

Next I found two Usbourne books I had to have.  ‘That’s not my snowman’ is perfect for Christmas and Ellie loves the touchy feely aspect of these books, the simple story and interactiveness of these books makes it easy for her to pick up the story and will be reading it back to me in no time!  The 50 Rainy Day Activities book is more for me to look at but the bright pictures will attract Ellie into helping me choose what she would like to do.

When I saw Katie the Candy Cane Fairy I really liked the idea of it, when I was younger I had books where you popped the doll out and could dress her up with the pop out outfits included and it reminded me of that.  This is a sticker book in which you dress the dolls up in different scenes.  I know Ellie will like doing this with her aunties when she goes to visit them.

I completed my order with this hair style book.  This book is actually a gift for a Ellie’s aunty Scarlett and I know she will absolutely love it.  It has step – by – step tutorials for different hairstyles and I secretly can’t wait for her to try them out on me!

These next few books I bought from a local charity shop, they are in perfect condition and were an absolute bargain!

I love Humphrey’s books, they have such lovely, simple stories with beautiful illustrations.

This book is kind of like a Where’s Wally for younger girls, it says there are over 1000 things to spot which will definitely keep Ellie busy!  I can imagine taking this book to restaurants and giving it to her to look at in the car to keep her entertained.  The fact it is called Who’s Hiding in Princess World is a bonus!

The final book I’ve bought up to now (but by no means the least!) is part of the Busy Book range.  Ellie already has a Doc Mc Stuffin and a Marvel Avengers one that people have bought her in the past so when I saw this My Little Pony one I knew I had to buy it.  It includes a storybook, 12 figurines and a play mat.  Ellie has recently become very interested in all things horses, ponies and unicorns so this ticks all the boxes!  This particular book was bought from Tesco but I originally saw it whilst shopping in Asda so they are available from most supermarkets, they also have a wide range of other Busy Books which I can imagine will be added to our collection at some point!

That complete’s Ellie’s collection of books to open on Christmas morning so far, my bookshelf would probably like me to leave it there but I’m sure I will be updating this post in the near future!

I’d love to hear your reviews and recommendations of toddler books and also any for grown up’s!

I’ve linked up with Chilling with Lucas for all things Christmas

  1. We are fans of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt!” On the whole bear theme (which my daughter loves) we also really enjoy “Bear Snores On,” part of a series, but our favorite one. Also, The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear is another total fav.
